Minnesota

As of early 2026, Minnesota imposes a 6.875% state sales tax (plus local taxes) on most gold, silver, and numismatic items, but exempts qualifying precious metal bullion. Bullion is exempt only if it is in bar or round form, at least 99.9% pure, and clearly marked with weight, purity, and content. Numismatic coins, currency, and items below 99.9% purity are taxable.
