Nevada

In Nevada, sales tax applies to gold/silver bullion and collectible coin sales, with only a narrow exception tied to whether the item is being used as a “medium of exchange.”

The Nevada Department of Taxation has explicitly stated in its newsletter that retail sales of bullion are subject to Nevada sales tax, and notes that because bullion in tangible form is not generally accepted in transactions, it does not meet the exemption.

Numismatic coins are not exempt and are subject to sales tax in Nevada.
