There Is Nothing More UNJUST Than Fiat Currency...

Today’s conversation with Daniel Diaz, Executive Director of Citizens for Sound Money, is a powerful call to action. As Lynette Zang passionately reminds us, “If not me, who? If not now, when?” The fiat money system is built on theft. It silently robs the public through inflation and steadily erodes your purchasing power. Now is the time to fight back.

Daniel brings both personal conviction and professional expertise to this cause. As a first-generation Cuban American, he understands the value of freedom and the devastating loss that comes when a currency collapses. That lived experience fuels his mission: to empower individuals through financial education and political activism rooted in sound money strategies.

Sound Money Legislation: Progress and Obstacles

In 2023, Daniel and a coalition of organizations successfully pushed sound money legislation in 27 states. While only seven passed reforms, Louisiana stood out by declaring gold and silver legal tender. Florida, the third-largest economy in the U.S., is now the primary target for 2024.

Thanks to last year’s groundwork, this year’s legislative push in Florida is more focused. Two key bills are advancing:

  1. Legal Tender Bill recognizing physical and digital gold and silver as legal tender.
  1. Sales Tax Repeal Bill eliminating the regressive tax on precious metals purchases under $500.

With strong leadership support, these bills are expected to pass. But this success is no accident. It is the result of tireless education and direct lobbying.

Why Politicians Fail to Prioritize Sound Money

Daniel explains that most of his lobbying time is spent educating lawmakers on basic economic principles. Many do not understand what money is, what happened when the U.S. left the gold standard, or how fiat currency drives inflation and wealth inequality.

This is why Lynette Zang joined the Advisory Board of the Sound Money Movement’s education foundation. The mission is clear: create free financial literacy curricula for all levels, from grade school to government.

“We need to teach people what money really is,” Daniel said. “Because we’ve had multiple generations now who’ve never known gold and silver as money.”

Building the Movement: Top-Down and Bottom-Up

The strategy is twofold. Daniel outlines both top-down political action and grassroots engagement.

Top-Down:

  • Build relationships with state legislative leadership.
  • Use a new super PAC, Economic Freedom PAC, to support pro-sound money candidates.

Bottom-Up:

  • Encourage citizens to make phone calls, write letters, and physically show up.
  • A handwritten letter can represent 1,000 votes. A visit to the capitol can represent 5,000 to 10,000 votes in a lawmaker’s eyes.

The mission is not to eliminate the Federal Reserve. It is to provide people with the freedom to opt into parallel currencies backed by real value: gold and silver.

Going Global: Citizens for Sound Money Expands

Sound money is a global issue. Citizens for Sound Money now has affiliates in Turkey and Israel, with plans to expand into Canada, Australia, and beyond.

A national TV show is in production, inspired by the educational approach of Mike Maloney’s Hidden Secrets of Money. It will cover the history of money, the current crisis, and a path forward using sound money.

The CBDC Trap and the Role of Digital Gold

Both Lynette and Daniel warn that we are witnessing a shift from one dying fiat system to another. Central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) pose an even greater threat. They come with surveillance and control that undermine individual freedom.

While Daniel supports blockchain technology for its potential, he and Lynette agree on one non-negotiable principle. If digital gold is not redeemable for physical metal, it is not sound money. It is simply fiat in disguise.

Digital gold and silver must be backed one-to-one and convertible. Otherwise, it only perpetuates the current system.

Physical Gold and Silver: Protection and Privacy

Lynette emphasizes the enduring value of physical metals. Pre-1933 coins, foreign gold francs, and constitutional money offer a layer of privacy and protection that digital assets cannot.

She warns that confiscation has happened three times in U.S. history. To assume it will not happen again is naive. True financial freedom lies in physical possession.

“You can’t confiscate what they can’t see,” she says.

The Time Is Now

Sound money is not just a theory. It is the foundation for financial freedom. It is the only defense against the economic injustice of fiat currency and hyperinflation.

As governments rush to introduce CBDCs and erode civil liberties, the people must reclaim their power through tangible assets, especially physical gold and silver.

This movement is about truth, education, and restoring the balance of power. Wealth preservation, real value, and economic liberty are not just ideals. They are rights worth fighting for.
