Washington

Beginning January 1, 2026, Washington state imposes a full retail sales tax (typically 7.5% to over 10%) on all purchases of gold, silver, platinum, and palladium bullion, as well as numismatic coins. The previous sales tax exemption for these items was repealed, making them subject to the same tax rate as standard, tangible personal property, regardless of whether they are purchased online or from a local dealer.
